Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Provide onsite support to conduct combat system alignment support in accordance with NAVSEAINST 8225.1C.for all elements of Combat System and Navigation System Alignments.
- Perform measuring, analyzing and correcting or compensating for combat system element pointing errors, roller-path inclination errors between Combat System Elements, Navigation Gyro pitch, roll and heading errors.
- Provide technical analysis during adjusting and zeroing electro-mechanical devices (synchro, encoders, etc.) and lasers used to transmit and receive position information.
- Provide support in maintaining Combat System Alignment equipment such as repair, upgrade, calibration, and maintenance of the Combat System Alignment equipment, to include Digital Inclination Data Systems supporting equipment and software applications.
- Capability to work flexible hours along with MARMC’s Combat System Alignment Team. Shipboard alignments shall be required to do shift work with most of the work being performed at night (2130 to 0600) and Sunday evening through Friday morning in the normal workweek.
Qualifications Required for the Position
- At least 4 years’ experience and ability to use and maintain star references, theodolites, use of lasers, precision scales, and other equipment used to acquire measure and verify all manner of shore and shipboard reference points and lines.
- The ability to function in various alignment team roles such as instrument person, team leader, report writer, data recorder, data base entry and Analog/Digital Inclination Data System operator. This experience should be applicable to working with Combat System Alignments on various classes of Navy and Coast Guard ships and submarines.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain security clearance and clearing necessary background checks/assessments as required. Active Security Clearance will be required, and current Security Clearance is desired.
- Physical requirements for efficient navigation aboard US Navy ships includes possessing the physical stamina, strength, agility, and endurance to walk continuously for extended periods of time without experiencing significant fatigue, adequate upper and lower-body strength necessary to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and work aloft, and agility necessary to enter/exit confined spaces (tanks, voids, and spaces/compartments with manhole access).
